§ 03 · a section of the read
Retail & grocery
The value contest, where the evidence is representative enough to publish.
What it is
A sector read in one of five states: a finding; observed (measured, and deliberately not classified); stable (enough observable entities and nothing qualifying moved, which is a result); withheld (a rule exists and its required evidence cannot be published this edition); or not assessed (no governed rule exists for this sector yet).
How it’s built
A sector publishes when its evidence is representative of the sector question, not merely when enough entities exist to calculate a metric. Eligibility is sector-specific by design.
What you get
- Which state the sector is in this quarter, and why.
- The entities observed, and how many of them moved.
- The entities the rule names, whether or not their movement can be published.
- The rule the finding had to clear, stated in full.
From the data
Q3 2026: withheld in all eleven markets. The rule compares two named entities on branded search movement, and repeated measurement did not reproduce that movement at the precision Cadence publishes — so the entities are named and the distance between them is not.
This is one section of a full Cadence read.
